Yemen Government bombs rebels

It seems that the Yemen government are responsible for the suicide attack against the communities from which the Huthi rebels are drawn - the first on a convoy of pilgrims on 24th November. The second on a funeral on 26th November. Unsuccessful attempts have been made to blame "Al Qaidah".  Credible allegations of government culpability will strengthen the hand of the insurgents.

Contradictions in Yemen scare

Another story that is so spun and so full of unanswered questions that we shall never know the truth. There were no explosives in the toner cartridges destined for the Chicago Jewish community. Or were there? The world is awash with disinformation at present. On this particular little story, early versions, such as that below, do not tally with later versions:

“There have been no threats made or received indicating that anyone or any location in Chicago is at risk,” Ross Rice, spokesman for the FBI’s Chicago office, told AFP in an e-mail.

“The two suspicious packages did not contain explosives.”

Gross disinformation

I feel so strongly about this piece of disinformation (see item posted by Davis below) that I am going to post the comment I made which was: This is WITHOUT ANY QUESTION a fraudulent item presumably forged by a group opposed to the Sudan Government. The Government of Sudan have plenty of sins including arming the jangjaweed, bombing innocent civilian villages and other obscenities. So what is the point of this crass fraud?

In case you have any doubt about this - check it yourself. There are undoubtedly elements in the former government who would have sympathy with Osama. Less probable but possible that one or two in this government might have such sympathies. But that they or anyone connected with them would be involved with anything as crass as this.

The Sudanese government decided to lift restrictions on Al-Qaeda members in the country in return for their help in fighting peacekeepers in Darfur.

Seriously - as if they need them!

The classified document sent to Sudan Tribune by a group named Kosh Liberation Movement (KLM) was dated April 27, 2004 and signed by senior members of Sudan’s presidency, ruling National Congress Party (NCP) and the army.

This organisation - the KLN - is unknown as far as I can tell. Nobody I know has ever heard of them - to the best of my knowledge it does not exist

One of the signatories was Sudan’s presidential adviser Majzoub al-Khalifa who was killed in a car accident last month signing on behalf of the NCP.

Well how convenient.

The authenticity of the document could not be independently verified.

You bet !

The decision outlines certain steps to be taken to allow Al-Qaeda to operate in Sudan such as unfreezing their bank accounts and returning all properties confiscated in 1996.

Who are you kidding. Can you imagine the international retribution if that was done?

A copy of the order was sent to President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir, Head of Security Services and a representative of Al-Qaeda in Sudan.

The president is complicit in this? He is supposed to like Al-Qaeda? He has imprisoned the people arguably closest to Al-Qaeda because they are a threat to him. People like JEM want to get rid of the President because they want someone more hard line. Sick eh considering what the President is like?

The U.S.-Sudan relationship goes beyond Iraq. Sudan has helped the United States track the turmoil in Somalia. Sudanese intelligence service has helped the US to attack the Islamic Courts positions in Somalia and to locate Al Qaeda suspects hiding there.

So one minute they support Al Qaida and the next minute they oppose it - in the same article. Wow. Doesn't that flag up any alarm bells? Of course the present Sudan Government opposes Al Qaidah actively. Its very survival threatened by Al Qaidah sympathisers.

Oh come on.
