This is also evidenced by the approval of a proposal at the Fatah conference last month to develop a strategic channel with Iran.
In working to improve relations with Hamas's supporters, Abbas is working to end or reduce foreign support (especially military support) for Hamas with the ultimate aim of isolating Hamas and forcing them to the negotiating table while also providing a better platform form which to negotiate for humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza.
